I told him that and he didn't reply, I thought he was afk-ing. Later, I realized that the installer was still written as 1.2.8 when it's supposed to be 1.2.9 and I still failed to join his "Mumble server". Surprisingly, I was still not suspicious and clueless about what the actual **** was happening behind the scenes. My Kaspersky Anti-virus did had an alert but I ignored it thinking it was just another false positive. The guy then said I don't have to restart my computer because it's a bug. His website looked like this : (Looks even better than the official Mumble page itself and I'm not sure if I should share the link or not.)Īfter downloading and installing again, A prompt told me I've to restart my computer but I ignored it.(I wasn't suspicious at all, he acted casually and even asked me what 2pac song was my favorite because my name was 2pac at the time.) He then said "One sec","Oh we are running our server on the 1.2.9 version" and gave me a link to download the 1.2.9 version of Mumble. The version I downloaded was 1.2.8 and after installing I tried to join their Mumble server but failed to connect. He told me to get Mumble and so I googled and downloaded Mumble from it's official website. I said my mic was broken and he(the person who invited me) said I just have to listen to them. They said they were waiting for another friend and asked If I have a voice chat program. He also had an account with around 4.5k mmr (He probably bought it). ( This one is not a simple phishing link scam, it's way more )īack to the hacking event (), I was playing alone on Dota 2 when someone invited me to their 3 men party, 4 including me. They mean a lot to me and I'm pretty cautious about phishing links, but managed to fall for this one. The items and gifts I've accumulated over the years amounted to around $2000 USD. A little introduction about myself, trading is my hobby and I have started trading a few years back from TF2 and now have been playing Dota 2. Please make sure your friends are aware of this. Hello fellow redditors, I wrote this post to make sure no one falls for this ever again.
